Here are our Chapter Board Nominees
for the 2019-2020 year
Vice President ~ Shawnyne Garren
My name is Shawnyne Garren and I respectfully accept the nomination for the 2019‐2020 Vice President. I have been a member of the Sierra Nevada Chapter of ARMA since 2017. I was appointed Chapter Secretary in Spring 2018 and have enjoyed serving in that capacity since then. I attended ARMA’s 2018 Regional Leadership Training and have made a great number of professional network connections during my time with ARMA. Additionally, I look forward to the opportunity to represent Douglas County, Nevada and our Sierra Nevada Chapter at the ARMA InfoCon event in Nashville, TN this
Fall. I have worked for Douglas County Recorder’s Office for 12 years and currently serve the public as the Administrative Services Manager overseeing the daily operations of the Recorder’s Office and Records Management. A major component of my overall responsibilities is to identify, streamline, and implement best industry practices through governance, policy and procedure as they pertain to the storage, proper retention, and secure destruction of County records. The knowledge and resources gained through ARMA have greatly influenced my ability to manage and preserve our County’s current
and historic records in the best possible manner. I have greatly enjoyed serving our members as an Officer of our Chapter Board and would be honored to serve as the next Vice President!
Thank you,
Shawnyne Garren
Treasurer ~ Brandy Ellison
My name is Brandy Ellison and I would like to serve as Treasurer for the Sierra Nevada Chapter of ARMA. I am a native Nevadan and longtime resident of Reno and have been employed by Washoe County in the Recorder’s office for almost 4 years. I am actively involved with the Recorder’s office collaboration with the University of Nevada Reno to digitize and preserve historical records. I have also been involved as a project coordinator/documentation writer with the Blockchain inception here in Washoe County.
I have enjoyed serving as Treasurer for the Washoe Leadership Program – Training Learning Leadership Committee, which role is soon coming to a close. The experience has brought me a wealth of knowledge and understanding that comes with acting in the capacity of Treasurer.
I believe I have the necessary skills needed to serve this organization as Treasurer. I am extremely organized, dependable, detail oriented and a great self-starter. I have experience in maintaining a budget, providing an updated accounting of expenditures and maintaining all receipts as well as other responsibilities required in this role.
I look forward to bringing my experience and enthusiasm to this office if elected.
Thank you,
Brandy Ellison
