Better late then never right?
Get to know Sara Martel, the State Records Manager for Nevada and this year’s Chapter President. We asked Sara a series of questions to get to know her better…
Tell us about yourself:
My name is Sara Martel.
Where do you work? What is your role with the organization?
I am the State Records Manager with the Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records
What drew you to records management/information governance originally?
I started in the Central Files office of the Gaming Control Board over 22 years ago. I assumed it was just my first job with the State, but I felt like “home”. All but 3 1/2 years of my career with the State have been in Records Management.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
I had a goal to be tri-lingual. While I was fluent in both Spanish and sign-language, it was never at the same time, and due to lack of use, I’m no longer fluent in either.
What is your hidden talent?
I don’t think I have a hidden talent, but I love to bake. Cheesecakes are my favorite to bake.
What is on your bucket list?
I have 3 main travel destinations on my bucket list. Galapagos Islands; African Safari, and seeing a play on Broadway in New York City. In December of 2018 I visited the Galapagos Islands, and in April of 2019, I saw Aladdin on Broadway.
Do you have a favorite quote?
When you are curious, you’ll find lots of interesting things to do. Walt Disney
Which one would you want most – flying cars, robot housekeepers, or moon cities?
Not even a question……robot housekeepers.
A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here?
Hola Senorita! Que pasa? Quieres ir a la playa conmigo?
