I work at the Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records. My current role is Project Director of U.S. Dept. of Education’s Reimagine Workforce Preparation Grant Program Supporting and Advancing Nevada’s Dislocated Individuals – Project SANDI.
What originally drew you to records management/information governance?
Being an on the ground part of democracy is what drew me to information governance.
What do you like most about records management/information governance?
Clear and visible public access to information in all formats, government publications, documents, records, histories, archives and more embodies and grounds our Democracy. Being part of this profession advances all voices and fosters broad participation, fair priorities and contributes to equitable decision making, while holding our government accountable through the record. Awesome!
What do you find the most challenging records management/information governance?
Keeping pace with what is required to drive a seamless, frictionless, affordable integrated approach to identifying, capturing, collecting, evaluating, curating, storing, retrieving and sharing all information assets.
What advice do you have for newcomers to our industry?
See what we do as a calling.
What are your hopes for our industry?
That we find smart ways to keep pace with the amount of information generated in the digital age.
If you could pick one theme for your organization and to turn into a book about the organization, what would it be?
Read to lead.
How do you define success?
I’m not sure I know how to define it, but I know for me it’s felt in my heart.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
Currently I’m learning to sing, not badly.
What is your hidden talent?
Hopefully, its singing not badly!
What is on your bucket list?
I’d like to see the northern lights.
