Justin Long:

As the original founder of PDI in 2001, Justin has been involved in 300+ Software\Hardware Implementation and Service Bureau projects that PDI has completed over the last 18 years.

Prior to his founding PDI, he received his advanced business management education from Barns Business College in Denver Colorado in 1996 and was in business-to-business technology sales and implementation for over 8 years with major firms including IKON Office Solutions.

Mr. Long is certified to install and support OnBase, LaserFiche, Kofax and Microsoft SQL.

SJSU Offering a Free Blockchain Course

SJSU Blockchain Course

Have you been wondering what all the fuss surrounding blockchain is all about? The potential for blockchain is of particular importance to libraries, as it may be used to connect institutions, build enhanced metadata or cataloging systems, host digital peer-to-peer sharing, and more. Learn all about it during our school’s MOOC starting March 11, 2019. Registration is now open!

The Blockchain and Decentralization for the Information Industries MOOC will be led by metaLAB at Harvard-affiliate Jason Griffey, who was the opening keynote speaker at our school’s Library 2.018 web conference on the theme.

The free, non-credit, fully online course will give participants the opportunity to explore the subject while using technology to work in a collaborative learning environment.

The following topics will be covered over six weeks:

  • Overview and history of blockchain
  • Standards, legalities, security
  • Related blockchain-like systems, decentralization
  • Limits of the technology, ethical concerns, new types of proofs
  • Use cases in public libraries, academic libraries, museums, archives
  • Future direction

The Hale Library – A Case Study Presented by Brian Foote

Hale Library at Kansas State University suffered extensive damage to its structure and contents after an accidental fire on the roof in May of 2018. Hale Library has more than 1.2 million books in its collection, not including other resources. Brian Foote, a member of BELFOR’s national document restoration team, will present a case study on the recovery process and how water and soot affected the collection. You will not want to miss this informative and lively presentation.
