Shawnyne Garren

Shawnyne Garren ~ President

Shawnyne began her career with the Douglas County Recorder’s Office in July 2007, and prior to that had a 7-year career in real estate. Today, as the Administrative Services Manager, she manages the daily operations of the Recorder’s Office where permanent land and marriage documents are recorded and made available for public inspection. She is also responsible for overseeing the storage, inventory, and secure disposition of digital and paper records for more than 20 individual departments at the County’s Records Management center. In addition to ARMA, she is a current member of the Property Records Industry Association (PRIA), Property Records Education Partners (PREP), Recorders Association of Nevada (RAN), County Fiscal Officers Association (CFOA), and International Association of Government Officials (iGO)

Brian Foote ~  Vice President

Brian Foote has been involved with the disaster recovery and document restoration industry for over 30 years. He has his Water Remediation Technician (WRT) certification, Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT) certification, Health Care Construction Certificate, Bachelor’s Degrees in History and in Art, and an M.B.A. Brian is on the national accounts and document restoration teams of BELFOR Property Restoration. He was directly involved in major document and facilities recovery efforts after Hurricane Sandy, the 2014 winter deep freezes on the east coast, Hurricanes Harvey and Irma in 2017, and the California firestorms of 2017-2020. Brian gives presentations and training on topics from disaster recovery to document restoration to ethics for various groups across the country.

Brandy Ellison ~ Treasurer

Brandy has been with the Washoe County Recorder’s office since 2016, starting as a Deputy Recorder I, and is now in the capacity of Senior Deputy Recorder. She spent the previous 23 years as a Legal Assistant for local law firms with a focus on business litigation. She is leading the project between the Washoe County Recorder’s office and the University of Nevada, Reno to digitally archive historical volumes from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.  Brandy recently completed her term as Treasurer of the Washoe Leadership Program’s Training-Learning-Leadership Committee and is looking forward to her future with ARMA.

Sara Martel ~ Past President

Sara has been with the State since 1997 and started her records career at the Gaming Control Board.  All but three and half of those twenty years have been in records related positions.  She worked three years as Senior Records Analyst at the Library, Archives and Public Records and has been the State Records Manager since 2016.

 They are an exceptional group!  Please feel free to contact your Officers, send ideas for future meetings and give them any recommendations to make this association work for you.
